স্রোতস্বিনী আছে, সেতু নেই/ Rivers, untamed by Purnendu Pattrea

Rivers, untamed

You said step into the sunlight, I thought I did
You said light a bonfire, and so I lit it.
One must sell every saved up happiness, you said
And so I auctioned them all.
But still here I am, alone.
You have made me lonelier than before.
Even my solitude you split into a hundred shards
Before scattering them like seed across soil and sea.
Because of you, I took off my finery and threw it away
That great forest you showed me? Why I have hacked at its very heart.
Whenever you asked for something I poured out my soul
But still here I am, alone.
And still you mean nothing to me
And I am no one to you.
Within us great rivers rage, but we have not built any bridges. Yet.
